Do You want run windows system, windows application e.g. Microsoft Office or Visual Studio on one physical local machine like PC or laptop with installed Linux/Unix? It is no problem. Below I present a few most known virtual machines and emulators for linux and unix distribution. Presented below screens come from FreeBSD system (unix platform).

  1. Wine – one of the best known emulators for Linux platform. Without installed windows from Your side You can running many windows applications like Microsoft Office, games or another

If You want use windows architecture for specific tasks like compilation programs and applications using software developer tools e.g. Visual Studio You have to use virtual machines. In case of virtual machines You have to install Windows System and necessary tools on Linux using  one from selected virtual machines. In case of Windows 10 architecture I suggest using SSD Hard Drive due to performance.

Below I present two most known environments:

  1. VirtualBox – VirtualBox is powerful, brimming with terrific features and, best of all — free.
  2. VMWare – VMware offers three differing pieces of virtualization software: VMware Workstation (paid), VMware Fusion (paid), and VMware Workstation Player (Free).
