Physicist Narinder Singh Kapany( he came from India), creator of optical fibers and 100 other patents in the field of optics, was the first to transmit images through fiber optics back in 1954 and laid the foundation for high speed internet technology(much more earlier then traditional internet which has been created in 1969). He not only founded fiber optics, but also used his own invention for the business.
Narinder Singh Kapany (31 October 1926 – 4 December 2020) was an Indian-American physicist best known for his work on fibre optics. He is credited with coining of the term fibre optics and is also considered the ‘father of fibre optics’. Fortune named him one of seven ‘Unsung Heroes’ in their ‘Businessmen of the Century’ issue in 1999. Interestingly, he never received the Nobel Prize, although many people claim that he deserved the prize.
In 1960, optical fibers began to be used in telecommunications and cable television – not to mention the army and government agencies (data transmission security is unbreakable, transmission resistant to weather conditions).
Fiber-optic internet is most commonly used in industrial networks because it is immune to electromagnetic interference.
Satellite communication systems and technologies are lagging behind optical fibers.
